Finally, a longstanding wish of the citizens of Tartu and the City Government of Tartu has fulfilled. They have longed for the SEBE express long distance line nr 724 Tallinn - Tartu „Hourly Express“ to also have a stop on the airport's territory in the Tallinn - Tartu direction. So far, a request stop "Lennujaam" for passengers to get off the bus at the airport existed only in the Tartu - Tallinn direction upon arrival in Tallinn.
There used to be a hindrance in the Tallinn - Tartu direction, as a suitable place for a long distance line bus stop did not exist at the Tallinn airport. Now we have found solutions. Tallinna Lennujaam AS has allowed for an initial stop for the "Hourly Express" buses at the end of the terminal's eaves. Later, a separate new bus stop will be built in the airport's parking lot.
In a mutual agreement with the City Government of Tartu, the additional time that it takes to stop at "Lennujaam" will be partially compensated in both directions by shortening the route at Tartu.
Upon arrival in Tartu, the new route is Tallinna hwy – Fr.R. Kreutzwaldi st – Jakobi st – Lai st – Vabaduse blvd – Turu st – Sadama st – Väike-Turu st – Soola st – Bus Station. Upon departure from Tartu, the new route is Bus Station – Soola st – Turu st – Vabaduse blvd – Kroonuaia st – Jakobi st – Fr.R. Kreutzwaldi st – Tallinna hwy.
In both directions, there is a new stop „Tartu Näitused“ for passengers to get on or off the bus. Upon arrival in Tartu, passengers also have an additional request stop at „Hurda“ and since 01.12.2011 „Raeplats“.
It is possible to purchase tickets up to 30 days in advance at the Tallinn and Tartu bus station ticket offices as well as online, including the possibility to board at stops „Tartu Näitused“ and „Lennujaam“.
These changes also make it possible to use the "Park and Ride" system in Tartu. Estonian University of Life Sciences has given its consent for bus passengers to park their vehicles in the university's parking lot. Just park your car, sit into a bus and enjoy your safe, comfy ride to the capital to do your business.
